Seishun Gestalt Houkai follows Asaha Mamiya, a high school student who one day suddenly experiences adolescent face loss syndrome, a fictional condition in which she can no longer recognize her own face and feels like she has lost her identity. She hides the change from both friends and teachers until the only one who notices something unusual is her classmate Hijiri Asahina, a young man with a striking appearance and a tough attitude but full of empathy for other people's pain — their relationship grows as Asaha faces her fear of other people's views and Hijiri confronts the wounds of her own past.
