Lem sells his family's grain in Chicago and falls in love with Kate, a restaurant waitress. However, life on the Minnesota farm is not as easy as it seems: Lem's father accuses Kate of only wanting money, and the harvest workers make the situation worse with their teasing. Misunderstandings separate them, but Lem is determined to find Kate again.
